Biography
Basil Anthony Harewood, also known as TONE, is a London-based Musician, Producer, Songwriter and Visual Creative.

A recording and performing artist with releases on NinjaTune, K Records, Rhythm Section and Curl Recordings. Composer of music for visual, film and commercial projects, a session musician and audio engineer. With placements including music featured on HBO and the BBC as well as commissions for reputable companies

A video director, having collaborated on several successful visual projects. Notable contributions include music videos for Raisa K, Tirzah, Good Sad Happy Bad, shame, a feature on Mica Levi's New Music Biennial performance at the Southbank Centre, and his short film for Farai's 'This is England' was selected for the British Shorts Official Selection in Berlin 2020.

After studying Film Production at university, Basil gained experience working in commercial television and advertising before establishing himself as an independent creative. Notably, touring and recording two LPs released on the label K Records with artist Jeremy Jay. He took on the role of Music Director for British singer Roses Gabor's Fantasy & Facts album release show. Produced and released an EP and album with Poet Farai on the label Big Dada, Ninja Tune. Production for iconic UK rapper Brother May, plus single releases and performances with the London-based experimental collective CURL.

In 2022, with a mixtape already under his belt, one that he says was thrown together on a whim, the London-based artist released his debut solo album “So I Can See You” on the label Rhythm Section International. This new body of work was created during the pregnancy and subsequent birth of his daughter. Compelled to capture this significant moment, recording mostly at night, with his new life and old life in mind. The album is less a departure of who he was but an embrace of the future and the new life that arrives with beginning a family. Each track was recorded on a Tascam 38 tape machine in the studio he set up with Mica Levi and Coby Sey in Hither Green with the drums, played by Marc Pell (Good Bad Happy Sad) recorded at Andy Ramsey’s (Stereolab) studio Press Play.
